Merchant City Yoga: 12 Years & Still Flowing
Some working relationships quietly grow into something much bigger. Merchant City Yoga is one of those.
I first met Judi back in 2014, when I was scouting locations for a photoshoot for another client. At the time, MCY was based in the old Peckham’s building (now House of Gods Glasgow), and the light in the studio was unreal. Soft, calm, beautiful, the kind of space that makes you pause and want to move in immediately.
We got chatting, as you do, and not long after, we started working together. That first project was a photoshoot for Judi and the studio, which then grew into a new website. It was the beginning of a creative partnership that’s now twelve years strong.
Since then, we’ve evolved the MCY website several times, with the most recent refresh completed last year. Alongside the websites, I’ve worked on copywriting, shaping the tone and messaging as the studio has grown, as well as photoshoots, marketing materials that support classes, courses and the wider MCY offering.
One project I still absolutely love is the Men of MCY video (watch it below). It was created to challenge preconceptions around yoga and men, open up the conversation, and show the breadth of people who practise at the studio. Honest, inclusive and confident, it captures the spirit of MCY perfectly.
Merchant City Yoga sits at the heart of Glasgow’s yoga scene. It is one of the original studios in the city, and it continues to set the standard. Not just through its classes, but through its teacher training programme, which was voted Number One in the UK. That kind of success doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from care, consistency and deep knowledge.
What I love most about working with Judi and MCY is that it’s never been about chasing trends. Judi and her brand have always focused on substance, community and integrity, and that’s guided every creative decision that’s been made along the way.
Twelve years on, we’re still working together, and we’ve become friends in the process. I’m incredibly proud of Judi and the work we’ve done, and even prouder to support a female-led business that continues to grow with purpose and grace.
Proof that when you build something thoughtfully, it doesn’t just last, it deepens.
Namaste, Sharon.
