Well, let me put you straight. This particular post isn’t about my long ago tale of lost romance (if you could call it that), it’s actually about a client request. However, it did get me thinking to that one time in my life someone said ‘We should get married’. Or at least I think that’s how it went down. Copious amounts of alcohol were consumed in the middle of Disneyland Paris. And trust me, it wasn’t the swept away moment some of us dream about. At the time all I could think of was how this should have happened years ago and how I didn’t really fancy it all now. Was there a polite way of saying no?

Anyway, I digress. So, as you know (or don’t) I have a side hustle (yeah that’s what they call it these days) so says the podcast I listened to yesterday. That hustle is my Text From A Friend and I hand print foil greetings cards sometimes with anti-social and sweary messages. It turns out I have a few fans these days and one in particular who bought many cards over the space of a year to send to his girlfriend. Romance eh?

Alan, that said fan, got in touch to request the ultimate romantic message. Would I design a bespoke card that he could use to propose to his girlfriend with? Well, some might say I have a heart of stone but how could I resist helping out on this occasion.

The deadline was set to design and print the card just like all the other ones he’d bought. Then the deadline was brought forward seeing as the ring was unexpectedly ready and I had 5 days to turn it around. Not. A. Problem.

A clandestine meeting was set up at the local Safeway (yes, I do still call it that) on the day they were leaving to go on holiday with the proposal taking place a day later.

She said yes of course. After all, who turns down a proposal? Or is it just me that experiences thoughts like that? Congrats to you both!

Now, if there are any of you out there who are planning to propose to a Kirsty, then I already have the perfect card for you. Bonus right? The metal die is already made so it would be a shame to waste it. Go on. What’s the worst that could happen?
