Today was Adele's day. And the internet went into a bit of a meltdown. She released her first single, Hello, from the third, long awaited, upcoming album and it hasn't disappointed. It is also the first ever music video to be shot on Imax cameras. What she's also done is introduce the world to the video's director, Xavier Dolan. For that we should be way more thankful as far as I'm concerned.
Read MoreWhat do people actually mean when they say that? That you're weird? Definitely different? A bit odd? A misfit? In a good way? Or a bad way? It's a phrase that people use to generally state that someone doesn't exactly fit in. But how do you feel if you are the one on the receiving end of such phrase?
Read MoreYeah, that's the title of Alan McGee's book, not my memoirs that I've started to jot down. I read his book in two sittings and surprised myself as I actually enjoyed it and came to like the guy. Not that I disliked him before, I've never met him (but if you're reading this I'd love to). I was indifferent to him. I was, like everyone else, aware of the bands he discovered, the ones he managed, the politics, the parties, the press. A lot of it welcome attention, along with the trials and tribulations of what goes on in the music industry. But it sounds like he had one big f*cking party. And lived to tell the tale. Just.
Read MoreYoga for men. Now there's a sentence you probably don't hear much or read about unless you are a man doing it already. Or thinking about it. It's become rather fashionable of late with the likes of Ryan Giggs and Hollywood celebrities partaking in a class or two. But the guys who have discovered it at Merchant City Yoga have been doing it for years.
Read MoreScotland recently had a bit of sunshine and of course we all took advantage of it. It hasn't been seen since but hey, we always live in hope. So what did I do…I sat in the sun and read some books. One a day to be precise. That only ever happens on holiday, with a kindle, so it was definitely a treat. And no matter what anyone says, a kindle will never replace the feeling of a book in your hands.
Read MoreI've been doing quite a bit of work for Merchant City Yoga recently. This place is a bit (or quite a big chunk) of a haven for broken people. Not just broken bones but the broken-ness that comes with tiredness, stress, aches, pains and let's feel a bit better about ourselves mood that we sometimes become aware of. It's also the perfect place for people that don't do yoga
Read MoreA client of mine, Judi Farrell of Merchant City Yoga, understands my wanderlust. In fact she more than encouraged me to go travelling, she was almost throwing things into a bag telling me to go asap! Judi recommended a book called The Suitcase Entrepreneur by Natalie Sissons. This is a great book and I recommend to all of you who want to try out a freedom career as they call it. I know in real life this may be a tad difficult but we could at least try couldn't we? Or at least do something for ourselves? Make some me-time?
Read MoreOne of my favourite clients (ok, you all are) was recently nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Autistic Society. I was under no illusion that he would win…and he did! What a great achievement.
Jim is a genius in my opinion when it comes to dealing with people and autism, and I'm not the only one who thinks that.
Read MoreI sure did. I decided to go to Australia and New Zealand. Quite last minute…I only booked it 10 days before I flew. Although I had been thinking about it for a few months. So, I hadn't been thinking about it, I'll confess. I'd been procrastinating. The seed had been planted in August 2014 when friends mentioned their float in the Sydney Mardi Gras Parade. Once in a lifetime eh? So after many sleepless nights I finally made the decision. And of course the ultimate realisation…why didn't I do this a long time ago?
